On the Mongolian Plateau in the far north, there has long been a nation - the Mongolians. According to incomplete statistics, there are about 10 million Mongolians in the world, of which nearly 3 million are in Mongolia, less than 1 million in Russia, and the remaining 6 million are in China. The Mongolians in China are mainly distributed in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the three northeastern provinces, Xinjiang, Hebei, Qinghai and other places.
Historical Origin
The Mongolian people have lived in the northern grasslands for a long time. Their clothing is consistent with that of the ancient nomadic peoples in northern China, which can be traced back to the prehistoric Paleolithic Age, and has a history of 10,000 years.
Mongolian clothing
Due to the geographical environment, Mongolians, both men and women, old and young, are used to wearing long robes. This is a unique clothing formed during the long nomadic life. The cold climate and the nomadic life make their clothing have strong cold-proof effect, wear resistance, and easy riding, so long robes and waistcoats have become their first choice of clothing.
Headdress
Headdress is the most important jewelry in the life of Mongolian girls. Young girls often wear simple and elegant headdresses, while women often wear elegant and luxurious headdresses.
Mongolian headdresses are not only made of exquisite craftsmanship, but also precious materials. They are often made of hundreds of corals, dozens of silver chains, pearl strings, many silver rings, silver sheets, jade, agate, pearls, amber, silver coral, malachite, jadeite, etc. Therefore, a headdress generally weighs three or four kilograms, and some can weigh more than ten kilograms.
Boots
The Mongolians wear boots all year round. Mongolian boots are divided into three types: cloth boots, leather boots and felt boots, which are selected according to different seasons.
Cloth boots are mostly made of thick cloth, canvas or velvet. They are soft, light and comfortable to wear and suitable for summer. Mongolian boots are finely crafted. There are many exquisite patterns embroidered or cut with gold thread on the toe, boot shaft, boot upper and boot foot. The patterns are novel and bright, with strong Mongolian characteristics.
Embroidery
The Mongolian costume embroidery art records the history, beliefs, ideals and aesthetic tastes of the Mongolian people. It uses bright and simple colors, emphasizing the color transition from light to dark. The pattern is also highly decorative in form, reflecting the coordination and unity of pattern and color. At the same time, it integrates the Mongolian people's infinite desire for freedom, harmony and happiness, forming an art form that perfectly combines decoration and practicality.
